STILL NOT SURE?

Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what we usually get asked

How do I find out the best sponsorship pathway for me?

We start with a consultation where Christine takes the time to understand your full situation, including your occupation, current visa status, work experience, employer relationship, sponsorship opportunity, and long-term goals in Australia.

Employer-sponsored visas are not one-size-fits-all. The right pathway can depend on whether you already have an employer, where you are located, whether the business is eligible to sponsor, whether your role matches visa requirements, your skills and experience, and whether your pathway could lead to permanent residency.

During your consultation, Christine will help you identify your possible sponsorship options, explain the risks or requirements you need to be aware of, and give you clear, practical guidance on your next steps.

If you choose to engage ASTO Migration after the consultation, we can provide end-to-end support. This may include reviewing your documents, advising on employer requirements, preparing the visa or nomination application, communicating with you throughout the process, lodging the matter, and guiding you through each stage.

Our goal is to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and a sponsorship strategy that is tailored to your circumstances.

Why should I choose ASTO Migration?

Employer sponsorship is not just paperwork, it involves your future in Australia, your employment, your employer’s obligations, and strict migration requirements. A small mistake in the visa, nomination, occupation, documents, or timing can create delays, refusals, or serious stress for both the worker and the sponsoring business.

At ASTO Migration, your matter is handled with a tailored and strategic approach. Christine Vaseer is a Registered Migration Agent with over 20 years’ experience and a former Home Affairs officer, giving her valuable insight into how employer-sponsored matters should be prepared and presented.

We take the time to understand your role, your employer, your current visa status, your eligibility, and your long-term goals. From there, we explain your options clearly, identify potential risks, and guide you through the best pathway for your circumstances.

If you engage ASTO Migration, you can expect professional guidance, careful preparation, clear communication, and support throughout each stage of the sponsorship process, from strategy through to lodgement and next steps.

What do I do if my visa is expiring soon?

You should seek advice as soon as possible. Timing is critical because your options may depend on your current visa conditions, your visa expiry date, whether you can lodge a valid application in Australia, and whether a bridging visa may be available.

In employer sponsored visa matters, timing can also depend on the sponsorship pathway and whether Labour Market Testing, or advertising the position, is required. In some cases, depending on the applicant’s nationality, visa pathway or applicable exemptions, the employer may not need to advertise the position before lodging the nomination.

ASTO Migration can review your current visa status, your employer’s situation and the available sponsorship pathways to help determine the safest and most suitable next steps before your visa expires. Labour market testing is generally required for sponsored nominations unless an exemption applies.

Can I include my partner and children in my employer sponsored visa application?

Yes. In many employer sponsored visa applications, you may be able to include eligible family members, such as your partner and dependent children, at the time of your visa application.

If your visa has already been approved and you would like your family to join you in Australia later, ASTO Migration can also assist with a subsequent entrant application for eligible family members.

The requirements depend on the visa type and each family member’s circumstances, including relationship evidence, dependency requirements, health and character checks. ASTO Migration can review your situation and advise the best way to include your family.

Do you help people who are outside of Australia?

Yes! We support people in Australia and overseas who are planning to come to Australia, stay in Australia, or understand their migration options.

Whether you are applying from overseas, already in Australia, facing a visa issue, or planning your next move, we can provide tailored migration support based on your circumstances.

Is my occupation eligible for employer sponsorship?

Your occupation must usually match an eligible skilled occupation list for the visa pathway you are applying for. It is not just the job title that matters but the actual duties, tasks, salary and business need must also align with the nominated occupation. At ASTO Migration we can review your role and occupation before proceeding with the application to ensure you have the best chance of success.

Does my employer need to be an approved sponsor before I can start the process?

No. Your employer does not need to already be an approved sponsor before speaking with us.

ASTO Migration can assist your employer from the beginning by assessing the business, identifying the most suitable sponsorship pathway, and preparing the required employer application. Depending on the visa pathway, this may involve applying for Standard Business Sponsorship, or in some cases, a different pathway such as a DAMA labour agreement.

The right pathway depends on the employer, the location of the business, the role being offered, your occupation, salary, experience and visa goals. We can guide both you and your employer through the process and help determine the best option before any application is lodged.

How are your fees structured?

We are upfront and clear about our professional fees before you decide to proceed.

After we understand your matter, we will explain the likely scope of work and provide clear information about our fees.

Our aim is to avoid confusion and make sure you understand what is included before engaging our services.

Can ASTO Migration speak to my employer about sponsoring me?

Yes. The first step is usually for ASTO Migration to assess your eligibility and identify the most suitable sponsorship pathway for your circumstances.

If your employer is already considering sponsoring you, we can then assist by speaking with them and explaining the process clearly. This may include the employer’s sponsorship options, nomination requirements, documents needed, costs, timeframes, obligations and the steps involved before they commit to anything.

This helps the employer make an informed decision about whether they are able and willing to sponsor you, while also helping you understand the best pathway based on your occupation, experience, visa status and long-term goals.

Will I be supported throughout my matter?

Yes. We take responsibility in our work and understand how important your migration matter may be to your future.

If you engage ASTO Migration, we aim to support you from start to finish, including preparation, document guidance, communication, submission, updates, and next steps.

You will not be left wondering what is happening with your matter. We believe clear communication, careful preparation, and ongoing support are essential when dealing with migration issues.

Do you guarantee visa approval?

No. No migration agent can guarantee a visa approval, and any service that promises a guaranteed outcome should be treated with caution.

What we can do is provide professional guidance, identify risks, help prepare your matter carefully, communicate clearly with you, and support you through the process.

Can ASTO Migration assist with both the applicant (employee) and the sponsor (employer)?

Yes. ASTO Migration can assist with both the applicant/employee and the sponsor/employer throughout the employer sponsored visa process.

We can guide the employer through the sponsorship and nomination requirements, including the role, salary, business documents and compliance obligations. We can also assist the applicant with the visa application, eligibility requirements, supporting evidence and any additional documents needed.

Our role is to make sure both sides understand what is required, that the application is prepared carefully, and that the sponsorship, nomination and visa stages are managed as smoothly as possible from start to finish.
